hello

NOW OPEN!

A contemporary hand crafted collection of entirely one off pieces of clothing and accessories is designed, made and sold at our store in Angel, Islington. Functioning as a social enterprise and run by a young team of designers and makers THE FARA WORKSHOP aims to offer experience and support to people who wish to join the industry.

Through apprenticeships, educational projects and workshops we aim to engage with the local community and create a place that will inspire and educate people in the importance of sustainable fashion and design. All profits generated by THE FARA WORKSHOP will go to the FARA Foundation which is a registered charity in both the UK and Romania.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to transform clothing and fabrics that have been generously donated to FARA charity shops, incorporating a variety of processes and techniques reworking them into a fabulous collection of wearable delights.

    WORKSHOPS

The retail outlet for these exquisitely unique pieces is in the centre of an inspiring creative hub in which the team will also run a variety of workshops. These will cater for the novice as well as the experienced maker and offer opportunities to improve or develop skills in embellishing, hand and machine sewing and numerous other areas of fashion and textiles.

    ARTIST IN RESIDENCE

This innovative venture will offer an artist in residence programme every 4-6 months, collaborating with artists from different areas such as illustration, fine art and photography. This initiative will enrich the workshop and offer an ever changing perspective on the wonderful artefacts produced, whether it be through the items we sell or the window installations we create.

Our first artist in residence is Dan Jamieson, check out his great work here.
